Ah yes, a lovely dinner at La Bodega de La Trattoria. Once again we were treated to some excellent Italian food in Peru.
This restaurant is owned by the same folks who run the fabulous Trattoria de Mambrino (we had gone there the first week we arrived in Peru). La Bodega has a slightly different menu and is overall a bit less expensive, but excellent nonetheless. There is a large comfortable patio which looks out on a small little park, and just beyond that… the ancient Huaca Pucllana, which is from 400 AD !
Not everyday you enjoy a nice glass of Argentinian Malbec across the street from an archeological site. Huaca Pucllana is smack dab in the middle of a Miraflores neighborhood, definitely not what you are expecting to see right next door to somebody’s house.
We had a lovely time with Amir as well as Dan and his girlfriend Jenny. Dan and I ordered pizza with chorizo. Amir and Gretchen tried the Ossobuco, and Jenny chose the “frutti di mare” with pasta. All plates were excellent as were the incredible desserts.
